We are with you, Nastya!

On January 28, 2022 there was an accident that happened in Uzbekistan Gymnastics Federation family. Anastasiya Miroshnichenko, a member of the Uzbekistan national WAG team, got a severe sports injury to her neck spine during a training session in Fergana, Uzbekistan. Nastya is a multiple national champion, winner of international competitions, participant of world championships, World Cup series and in spite of the temporary medical suspension issued by doctors of Uzbekistan Gymnastics Federation until March, Miroshnichenko, like a true professional, was in constant effort to overcome the pain and improve her sporting skills. Within minutes after the tragedy, her father, Oleg Miroshnichenko, who is Nastya's personal coach, got in touch with Uzbekistan Gymnastics Federation and informed Ruslan Mustayev, the head of the Federation, and team doctor Svetlana Svyatskaya about the accident. In their turn, Mustayev and Svyatskaya reported the tragedy to the head of the National Olympic Committee Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov, who involved the country's best experts in neurosurgery, who helped provide a highly professional care. A consilium of doctors from the capital and Fergana was created to develop the surgical tactics and post-surgical rehabilitation of the athlete. The most complicated surgical operation was performed at the Fergana branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. Now Nastya is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Department.

Uzbekistan Gymnastics Federation would like to thank personally Bekhzod Anvarovich Musaev, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the chief physician of Fergana Medical Center, and doctors for the successful performance of this unique operation, Abdullayev Doniyor Dehkonboyevich, Ashurov Ibrohim Sainuridinovich, Mirzamatov Nuridin Inomovich, Kuziev Ortiksher Ilmidinovich, anaesthesiologists Kirgizboyev Adhamjon Abdumutalievich and Mamajonov Nodir Nomonovich.

We would like to emphasize again the professionalism of our doctors, whose rapid intervention gave a second life and hope for a full recovery of the gymnast. Now Anastasiya can talk and move her extremities. The hardest part is over. However, full recovery requires an effective post-operative rehabilitation period, the first stage of which will be carried out in Fergana, and the second stage is planned to be held in Tashkent.
